Sabine König (1963) was born in Bielefeld/Germany. She graduated from the School of Design in Pforzheim and from the audiovisual department of the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. After having worked as an independent designer for several years she first started to make short documentaries for children while travelling with an old Bolex-camera. In 1998 she participated at the IDFA senarioworkshop with Please Hold the Line which premiered at IDFA and was nominated for the Prix Iris Europe. Since then she has worked as a visual artist, writer, and documentary filmmaker. She has realized several documentaries for Dutch public broadcasters among which Marienborn (shot in Germany in 2014) and Golestan/The Rosegarden (shot in Iran in 2004). Her films got selected for national and international festivals and were screened by national and international broadcasters. Sabine lives and works in Amsterdam.
